The text identifies an “American” as an individual who can recognize the value of historical places that represent America’s founding. Notice the word-choice. The phrases “our hearts”; “all have an inheritance”; and “Fathers of our country” are stressing unity and commonality through a shared history and citizenship."(See first and last paragraph)

The city government is actively seeking to preserve both the physical history (the building and grounds) and citizens’ connection to that history. Consequently, visitors could stand in the same room as the “Fathers of our Country” and perform the same act of “commun[ing] with nature."
